Airports and Travel

AIR PORTS and TRAVEL:

South Bend Air port (international) is just minutes away.  The hotel offers free shuttle service. You need to give them your flight number and information.  They will work with you!  (We will not have shuttle service personally for the conference-just thru the hotel if you are staying at the hotel).
Chicago airports are about 2-3 hours away.  Traffic can make the time difference. The actual miles to one of the Chicago airports, is not too far, but if you get into traffic, it can make a huge difference in driving time.  Here are the airports to possibly fly into:
South Bend International Airport
Chicago O'Hare International Airport (map quest says 2 hour drive to South Bend)
Chicago Midway International Airport  (map quest says from 1 hour and 52 minutes to 2 hours)
On a personal note: I fly in and out of South Bend, and it is great.  You would save money flying into Chicago, but once you rent a car, add the 2 hours driving time, is it really worth it?  Not to mention the traffic in Chicago! I personally find it is worth the money to just fly into SB. But your choice!  :)
