Christian Midwives and Birth Workers~A Heart of Worship...

Remember, classes can change, times and day can change. 

Because-life happens! 

Here is the plan:

MONDAY September 26th  Pre-Conference

7 am -8 am--HOLY YOGA with Doran Richards. This class will include devotions, and each day builds upon the previous day.
Pre-Conference
We will begin at 8 am.  We will have a working lunch (included) which will mean your speakers will be talking while you eat. Jill F. Whitfield will be helping teaching this day. 

8 am~So you want to be a midwife?

9 am~What does it mean to be a student?  

10 am~Blood Sugar. 

11 am~What it’s like to be the community midwife!

noon~Herbs vs Medicines. 

1 pm~Setting up at the home birth, let’s keep it sterile?

2 pm~Transfers-What does the hospital want? 

3 pm~Chart right! 

4 pm~Placenta’s 

5 pm~Now what? How do I keep records for NARM? Where do I go from here?

DINNER-on your own.  There are several restaurants within walking distance or a short drive.

TUESDAY MORNING: Pre-Conference (morning)

9:30 am ~Vitals! Vitals! Vitals! and Urine! Jill F Whitfield and Ireena

11:45-12:45--Lunch (provided for those who are attending the full conference) 

Conference 

1-2pm ——–Balance Midwifery and your life-Laurie's Story.

2-3pm——–Therapeutic Pain Control Without Medications-Doran

3-4pm——–HUG Your Baby-part 1 - Doreen

4-5pm——- The Human Placenta.  Why is it Different than Other Mammals and What
                 Does This Mean to Pregnancy and Birth? --Alicia H.

5-7pm Dinner (on your own)

7:00———–Peer Review (Please sign up ahead of time for peer review)

Wednesday September 28^th- Conference

7:30-8:30 am~Holy Yoga and devotions with Doran
9-10 am~ HUG Your Baby part 2-Doreen

10 am-12 noon ~Hearing tests: Nan from the state of Michigan (120 mins)

12:00-1:00—–lunch (provided)

1pm~Hypertensive disorders of pregnancy: Historical Perspective and Current Knowledge. When to
                  consult or transfer care-Alicia H.

3pm~Miscarriage-Laurie Z.

4pm~Labs-understanding Labs for your Client. A panel Discussion- ALicia H., Jill W., Ireena K., 

5-7pm———-Dinner on your own

7pm——— Praise and Worship time! 

Thursday September 29^th- Conference

7:30-8:30 am~Holy Yoga and devotions with Doran R.  

9am-5:00 Basic disaster birth support! Basic training for labor and birth in an emergency situation.  Are we in the end times? What happens to the women who might deliver if we have a natural disaster, such as a tornado, flood, or a situation like 911 again? What would our roll be as midwives?  How do we work within the EMS system? This class will have hands on practice/scenarios and instruction.  It will prepare you to go back to your community and teach the same class to the community and EMS system.  This is a 'sister' class to the B.E.S.T. class that many of you have taken.

NOTE: we will be traveling to a location that is about 30-40 minutes away. We will be carpooling.  Come with older clothing, that will be good for the weather.  In this area during this time it can be warm, or rainy and cold.  :)

This class includes a lunch.

7pm: Meeting: Where do we go from here?  We will discuss what you want with possible future conferences, and if that is so, you will need to set up committees and workers for accomplishing that goal. This is your time to ask the questions many of you have already been asking.

8pm: Possible fundraiser 

Friday September 30^th-Conference-Business day.  Today will be for your business, classes reflect this.

9 am~Billing Insurance-Laurie Z.

10:00————To be announced

11am-noon~On line charting: Open Discussion and examples.  We will be discussing the online charting programs that are available. For those of you who have not yet gone to online charting, it is a chance to learn about what is available to you.  For those of you who have -please plan to attend to share with your colleagues what you like and dislike about the program you use.  (this will be a class with a panel of midwives-names to be announced later--still pending)

(sample paper charts for old time charting will be out for display-please bring one of yours to share and display)
