CEU's

I applied for CEUs from MEAC (what CPMs often use to renew their certificate) and from ACNM (for the nurse midwives and nurses).

It is a process! It usually takes (once the speakers get their information to me) about 45 to 60 days to hear from each organization. MEAC has responded, ACNM said they might not know until a week before the conference, so we do not have anything to report from them yet (because it might take an extra 6 weeks from the original date we were expecting to hear back!)  :(

I am happy to report that we have heard from MEAC.  We have been approved for 13 contact hours, which means 1.3 CEU's.

LETS REVIEW how CEU's work for the CPM process.   To renew your certification you need the following:  (taken from the NARM site)
A total of 30 CEUs over three years are required for recertification, including five mandatory CEUs in Peer Review and 25 CEUs in a variety of other categories

How do CEU's work?

One hour of instruction time=.1 CEU
One hour of instruction time= 1 contact hour

CPMs can use the 'contact hour' to renew.  SO if you are attending the whole pre-conference and conference, and have paid for CEUs you will receive 13 contact hours.  (1.3 ceu).

If you are  attending only part of the conference or pre-conference, please see the blog pages about the classes to see what ones have been approved.

Remember, we will offer Peer Review, if you want to attend (contact me ahead of time about this) you can earn what you need for renewal, or close to it.

If you have not paid for CEU's and want them, you can pay for them on line.  Like you did when you registered, or if you have not yet signed up, when you do sign up, also pay for CEU's at the same time!

Now hopefully, for our sister midwives, ACNM will also approve some!  I tried girls!  I sure hope they do!  :)

Everyone who attends will also receive a certificate of attendance which can sometimes be used for some contact hours for CPM's.
